Kirby?s Adventure In Candy Land
It was a peaceful night in Dreamland. Stars blinked rapidly in every expanse of the deep blue night sky. Each of Dream Land?s sleepy inhabitants smiled and fidgeted in their happy dreams formed by the fountain of dreams. A few were so engrossed in their nightly adventures that they had rolled four feet away from where they began their slumber. One pink round inhabitant was no different and his whispy noises filled the air with each blink up above, Star Warrior or not, this particular pink inhabitant slept like the rest of Dream Land. But unlike everyone else Kirby was on the wisp on an epic adventure that would seal the fate of not just Dream Land but CandyLand as well. As the inhabitants slept they were not aware of the danger that skulked through Dream Land with evil intentions on its mind. Had any inhabitants been awake that night they might have shrunk away from the dark shadow slithering its way towards the fountain of dreams. ....
If there was one thing that Kirby liked more than sleeping it was eating. So he was pleasantly surprised to smell the charming scent of wonderful sweet delights in the air. He smiled to himself as he imagined all that he would eat today, tomatoes, watermelons, apples, cherries.
?Yum,? he murmured in his high pitched voice.
However, he soon stopped smiling when he realised something painfully sharp was sticking into his back. Kirby leaped into the air, his round pink body springing effortlessly upwards. He hovered in the air slightly before peering down to see what had hurt him and to his surprise it was a sweet. The sharp pointy edge of a fudge square. But where had it come from? Kirby stared around him and with a silent intake of breath he saw that Dream Land was gone. His home had vanished into thin air leaving only trees with bark made of chocolate and mints shaped into leaves. He soon saw where the fudge piece had come from as right above where he hovered, towering high into the sky was a cherry tree of some sort but it was unlike any cherry tree Kirby had seen. Instead of red cherries coming from its branches there were pieces of fudge instead. Kirby squealed as a fudge piece fell on him.
?Hey!? Kirby yelped and he floated off to search for his friends.
He decided to follow an appealing path made out of different coloured smarties embedded in a marshmallow floor. Kirby couldn?t resist tentatively licking a tree bark whenever he floated pa$$.
?HELP!?
Kirby swivelled around to see an odd character running towards him screaming at the top of his voice. His candy rock arms were waving in the air frantically and his jelly bean eyes were flashing in fright.
? Floating marshmallow, help me please!? The character said breathlessly when he finally reached Kirby.
?Kirby,? Kirby floated down and screwed up his face as if in tantrum.
?Kirby, then please!? The character with the jelly bean eyes kept casting looks backwards and Kirby soon discovered why.
A monster made primarily of chocolate, just like the bark of the trees came speeding towards them barking angrily. When it reached them the character with the jelly bean eyes huddled in a floor at the ground.
?You?re both coming with me, to be slaves to the Trixster.? It growled showing a row of sharp shattered toffees for teeth.
?No,? Kirby said simply as if the monster would simply accept that.
?I?m not asking!? The monster growled spitting hundreds of cola bottles from his mouth like bullets.
Kirby opened his mouth wide making the jelly bean guy cower and swallowed them all and gave a triumphant look at the monster.
?A trouble maker, eh?? The monster growled. ?I?ll soon show you how things are?AAHH!!!?
The chocobear leapt into the air as Kirby took a huge bite of one of its four legs.
?Chocolate,? Kirby said firmly as he soon turned into the sweet confection himself. A very hard chocolate ball.
Kirby tucked his feet up and rolled upwards but the monster dodged to the side before landing back on the ground growling. It spat thousands of high speed cola bottles at Kirby but he had gained momentum now and they bounced off as if they were feathers. A few hit the jelly bean guy who whimpered in pain. Kirby rolled again towards the monster and this time he connected, instantly shattering the chocobear to little bite size chocolate bars.
?Yum!? Kirby grinned fading from chocolate back to his pink self again, deciding himself worthy of a treat he scooped up a few bits of the chocobear and ate them hastily.
The jelly bean guy slowly got to his feet.
?I am Jabloo...? he said fearfully.
?Kirby!? Kirby said ginning and offering Jabloo a piece of the chocobear.
?No! Thankyou...? Jabloo said leaning away. ?You must be another one. They must of missed you when they collected the rest of them.?
?Hmm,? Kirby grunted confused.
?The TimeKeeper?s men. He has taken all the people from your world and taken them to his castle to be slaves.?
?Rescue!? Kirby screeched at the top of his voice making Jabloo jump.
?You wish to rescue them? I knew you were a warrior after you saved me from the fearsome chocobear. But I?m afraid the TimeKeeper is much stronger than any chocobear. In his liquorice castle to the north he makes the most evil plans. Long ago the Kings of the world found time falling to pieces so they used their crowns to create the TimeKeeper who would watch over time, space and dreams forever but the TimeKeeper has become corrupt and has used his power for evil. Using the power of dream he has made the people of your world dream about my world. A world that really exists. He has locked them into an ?ultimate dream? which they cannot wake from. When their bodies die away from hunger and thirst their dream selves will be stuck here forever. They will remain here as dream beasts to become slaves to the TimeKeeper.
Rescue is impossible, to enter the TimeKeeper?s liquorice palace you need the legendary cup of golden syrup which only?WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!!?
Kirby did not look around but continued to salm himself into the bark of the chocolate tree repeatedly.
?Stop that!? Jabloo cried. ?Do you want to alert another chocobear...or worse??
?Wake!? Kirby commanded but no matter how many times he slammed into the bark of the tree all he got was the sweet smell of chocolate.
He collapsed onto the floor panting, his pink body rising and falling.
?I?m sorry... but you cannot wake... the only way to wake is??
?Sleep!? Kirby cried closing his eyes.
?Weren?t you listening to me?! You?re already a sleep!?
But Kirby wasn?t listening. He just lay there with his eyes closed.
?Oh I see,? Jabloo said. ?You hope to go to sleep and wake up in your home but you can?t sleep because you are already sleeping. It?s no use, the only way to wake is to defeat the TimeKeeper and it would take a proper warrior to defeat him, something a bit harder than a marshmallow...?
?Kirby!? Kirby swallowed Jabloo whole and held him in his mouth while the jelly guy whimpered and begged to be let out.
Kirby spat him out roughly and continued to fly up the road.
?Wait! I?m sorry! You need me to find the golden cup of syrup!? Jabloo called after him.
Later, after Jabloo had apologised several times and blinked his jelly bean eyes several times more he led Kirby to Marshmellow Mountain. A huge expanse made entirely out of the soft chewy sweet. The mountain towered so high into the sky that it looked like it had no top. Kirby and Jabloo stared up at it, a sense of dread sifting through them.
?It?s the only way to get to the cup of golden syrup,? Jabloo said.
?Oh...? Kirby said and slowly but surely began to make his way up.
Jabloo followed him but not after muttering that Kirby must feel at home on the marshmallow mountain.
They made their way up without trouble but when they reached a quater of the way up five boiled sweets with fearsome red eyes that Jabloo called meany sweeties blocked their pa$$.
?The way is barred!? They said in eerie unison.
?We must get through.? Jabloo said his jelly bean eyes blinking worriedly.
?The way is bared!? They said again.
Jabloo turned to Kirby, ?what to do warrior??
?Fight!? Kirby said visciously jumping up.
The meany sweeties followed him with their red eyes. When Kirby flew towards them they scattered hastily, the marshmallow under them shook like jelly.
?Join together!? They said in unison running towards each other and sticking together like toffee to make a huge cube, but the cube grew arms and legs made out of mint cane.
Kirby bit one of the mint legs gaining the ability to blow out a cool mint wind. The meany sweetie cube hollered in agony before slamming Kirby into the ground with a mint arm.
?Urrr...? Kirby squealed as he was pinned into the ground by the meany sweetie cube.
Kirby tried to blow the arm away from him but it was too heavy. The meany sweetie pushed Kirby deeper into the marshmallow floor until he was lost from sight. All Kirby heard was Jabloo?s scream as he broke through the marshmallow into the hollowness of the mountain. He fell to the ground with a bump and found himself in the centre of the mountain, where as if by magic a stream of golden liquid seemed to be floating uphill. Kirby jumped into the golden liquid river and let it carry him upwards, gulping as he let the golden syrup take him to its destination. The river seemed to flow upwards for miles until it reached a huge golden pond where in the middle was a small chocolate Island. On the island was a table (probably marshmallow based) and standing in front of it an odd creature whose whole body and head were completely black. It spun around to face Kirby showing two narrow eyes on the cylindrical body.
?I am Lord Liquorice,? It said in a booming voice. ?What business do you have at Creamy Cave??
?Cup,? Kirby said pointing to the table where a single cup of golden syrup stood.
The cup itself seemed to be made of solid gold and it seemed to be lighting the entire inner sanctum of the mountain.
?You want this?? The liquorice man said jerking his cylinder body towards the cup. ?The key to the only way to enter the Liquorice castle uninvited??
Kirby nodded.
?I?ve been waiting for a warrior to step up and claim this. The TimeKeeper stole my palace from me. He tricked me. He told me that he would show me my future. Greedily, I accepted and gave him my crown as payment but instead of showing me my future, he changed the past so that I was never Lord of Candy Land.? Lord Liquorice bowed slightly.
?Oh dear...? Kirby said sympathetically.
?It is...? Lord Liquorice nodded. ?His reign of terror must be stopped; he is now using it to enslave all the peoples of a different land, yours I presume??
?Uh huh,? Kirby said.
?I sense that you are a warrior of great strength, even the stars bow in your presenc?please?take the cup and save your world and mine.?
Kirby floated forward and took the cup, swallowing it for safe keeping. Saying goodbye to Lord Liquorice he floated down the mountain and towards his future. A clash with the TimeKeeper. His most fearsome battle yet.
